O'Connell/Chapman Memorial Civil War Library
Our library can trace its history back to the original Burpee Post #71, when it established its own post library and reading area for its members. The space currently utilized for our library was once part of this area.
Since then and with the creation of the Museum, we have collected and acquired several thousand different manuscripts, books, letters, periodicals, and images related to the Civil War in Connecticut and New England, which can be used for your individual historical and genealogical projects.
Since the start of the 150th Anniversary Commemoration of the Civil War, we have had a greater influx of visitors during our open days, so it is very advisable to make an appointment prior to arriving.
Archival and library materials must be used at the museum.
